Dealing with a cross-cutting societal issue that is efficient management and disposal of waste, Waste
Connections has been continuously looking for opportunities to improve its performance by leveraging
technology. In this regard, the company joined hands with Tekrevol to optimize and manage their app
solution for better efficiency and performance.
To ensure the service provision is adequate and streamlined, the need to have a record management
system is critical. Therefore, RMO was designed to be a web app that allowed service providers to
keep a record of their clients and the provided services. It serves as the admin panel for the Moab
app and assists in easy record-keeping and management of payments.
Waste Connections had a comprehensive web app solution to manage and optimize the route for truck
drivers. Hence, they opted for RMO (Route Manager Online). This web application was designed to
assist drivers in choosing the route that covered most trash sources at minimum expense of fuel. The
primary purpose of this app was to have an integrated system for the company that kept management
and technical team aligned with driver's routes and trash collection to optimize all related
activities.
The app was expected and required to function more like an administrative panel for one of the app's
Android app, which was dedicatedly developed for trash truck drivers. Furthermore, RMO was required
to serve as an online waste management system that helps users connect with the solution providers
and request their specified service through a systematic process. Along with that, it also held
records and data about client's personal information, previous service requests, billing
specifications, and profile information.
When brought to Tekrevol, the app majorly lacked a streamlined flow and systematic correlation
between service providers and cost manipulation. The company required our technical team to upgrade
the app to have a more streamlined flow of information that focused entirely on the client's
activities, service requests, and monthly/annual cost. The prime reason to do so was to keep a
record of the company's overall performance as well as evaluate who are some of the consistent
clients of the company.
Further, the additional problems that were highlighted about the app by the company catered to its
UI design and features. In order to make the app more responsive, interactive, easy-to-use, and
functional, the design team at Tekrevol was asked to improve the UI appearance of the web app by
editing the fonts, background, and color of the app. In addition to this, inserting some buttons or
widgets for better access and flow of information was also requested.
As the technology freak, Tekrevol incorporated some over-the-top and intrinsic features and
functionalities to the app that effectively complemented the nature of the app and provided a highly
engaging and interactive UI experience. By leveraging some of the best technologies like MVC to
upgrade the app, we ensured that the app solution provided an easy and seamless functional
experience as well as helped in easily updating the app.
Furthermore, we employed great technological solutions like Google APIs for better route tracking
and management for the added functionality of route optimization.
Firstly, client opted for MVC (Model View Controller) as the basic developmental framework to improve
the app's performance and streamlined functionality. The multiple high functioning features such as
easy data retrieval, dedicated modification, and available multiple views assisted in catering to UI
design issues efficiently. Another peculiar feature of the app included easy updates and editing to
assist in seamless performance optimization of the app.
Furthermore, to merge cost manipulation and service provider on the same stream, additional data
entry features were added in this web app. This was one of the essential and crucial requirements
for this app. We ensured to make this feature functionally robust with high-end technology. The UI
upgrades were supported and included with the help of the MVC framework in a time-efficient manner.
The web app now serves the purpose of database to Moab as it consists of detailed information and data about the clients and companies. While information like payment methods, billing specifications, services requested, and previous transaction records assist in methodical data and functional processing.
